The mission of the Cástulo de la Rocha College of Health and Community Well-Being is to strengthen our region by educating diverse, highly competent and compassionate health professionals to meet the needs of 21st century health care and public health. The healthcare industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the US and our new college is graduating students prepared to fill those jobs. In addition to professional skills, our graduates learn to be culturally competent, to understand the non-medical influences that affect health and wellness (social determinants of health) and often go on to serve in the surrounding communities where there is a shortage of health workers. We call it the “brain remain” where graduates go back to their neighborhoods to make a difference.
We offer degrees in nursing, health administration, physician assistant practice, child life, psychology, marriage and family therapy, clinical psychology, kinesiology, and athletic training with more to come. These are degrees that transform the lives of our students who then transform their communities. Our faculty are highly qualified to teach classes both by education and through real world experience. Whether you currently work in healthcare and are looking to upskill or are thinking about the possibilities, it is an exciting time to be a part of the newest college at the University of La Verne.
