We examine human movement by applying the foundations of anatomy, physiology, and mechanics. The University of La Verne’s Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology is designed for individuals who are curious about improving human health, performance, and well-being. Students will learn through hands-on experience, and gain transferable skills for a wide variety of professions.
The Kinesiology Program offers three concentrations. The Health and Human Performance (HHP) concentration prepares students for careers and graduate education in health and sport science professions. The Athletic Training (AT) concentration prepares students for the graduate program in Athletic Training (MS). The Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) program prepares students to teach Physical Education in the State of California public school system. Students will also have the opportunity to broaden their learning experience by participating in internships, some of which are available through our established partnerships in our local community, including Casa Colina Hospital & Centers for Healthcare, Pomona Valley Hospital, Hillcrest Retirement Community, Cope Health Scholars Program, and the Bonita Unified School District.
Health and Human Performance
The Health and Human Performance concentration prepares students for careers and graduate education in allied health and human performance disciplines. Grounded in a foundation of kinesiology, this concentration allows for flexibility in designing a program of study to meet individual learning and career goals. Ideal for students interested in allied health fields (PT, OT, PA), medical and nursing school, and sports sciences (strength and conditioning, personal training).
Athletic Training: 3-2 Program
The Athletic Training 3-2 program is designed for students interested in becoming certified athletic trainers and allows students to complete their Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) in 5 years. Athletic trainers are healthcare providers who work with patients in a variety of settings including colleges and universities, high schools, hospitals and rehabilitation clinics, performing arts centers, and fitness and recreation sports centers.
Physical Education Teacher Education
The Physical Education Teacher Education concentration prepares students to teach physical education in the State of California public school system. Upon completion of the degree, PETE graduates are eligible to begin the Teacher Education program leading toward the Single Subject Teaching Credential in Physical Education.
