BS Program Learning Outcomes

The graduate of the bachelors in nursing (BSN) program will be able to:

  1. Synthesize knowledge from liberal arts, sciences, humanities, and the discipline of nursing for critical thinking, clinical judgment, ethical, diagnostic, and therapeutic decision-making.
  2. Use person-centered care scientific body of knowledge to guide evidence-based holistic nursing practice for individuals, families, vulnerable populations, and communities.
  3. Provide culturally sensitive nursing care for health promotion, disease prevention, and risk reduction to reduce the incidence of disease and health inequities.
  4. Demonstrate cultural awareness in the nursing process and quality safety standards to promote health and well-being of individuals, families, vulnerable populations, and communities.
  5. Use knowledge and skills in information management and the application of patient care technology to manage and improve the delivery of safe, high-quality, efficient healthcare services in practice and professional regulatory standards.
  6. Describe healthcare policy, finance, and regulatory environments that impact the health of individuals, families, and groups in the provision of evidence-based nursing care practice.
  7. Demonstrate competent interprofessional communication skills to create interprofessional collaborative environments to promote health and minimize healthcare disparities.
  8. Use knowledge of the political system, cultural competence, determinants of health, and the standards of nursing professional practice in the management of people and systems.
  9. Conduct community needs assessment to identify community capacity, resources, priorities, and needs to develop health and prioritize goals for prevention and population health interventions.
  10. Role model professionalism and the inherent values of altruism, autonomy, human dignity, integrity, social justice, lifelong learning, inquiry, synthesis, translation, application, and support the acquisition of nursing expertise and assertion of leadership.
