Recovery Model:
\n<\/strong>The theoretical foundation for the MFT program is based on a Recovery Model emphasizing and supporting each individual\u2019s potential for recovery. The Recovery Model perspective emphasizes the development of hope, a secure sense of self, supportive relationships, empowerment, social inclusion, coping skills, multicultural sensitivity, and meaning.<\/p>\n

Clinical Practice Focused Curriculum:<\/strong>
\nBroaden your horizons and strengthen your therapeutic expertise through a clinical practice focused curriculum designed to empower you as a competent and compassionate marriage and family therapist.<\/p>\n

Transfer Units:
\n<\/strong>Admitted students seeking transfer credit for previous graduate work must submit a request to the Program Chair during their first semester. Transfer credits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis for recency and academic applicability. All courses must be completed within five (5) years from the date of admission to the MFT program from a regionally accredited university, with a grade of B (3.0) or better for consideration. The maximum number of transfer credits allowed is 12 semester hours.<\/p>\n

Outcomes and Careers:<\/strong>
\nUniversity of La Verne’s MFT program equips graduates for rewarding careers as marriage and family therapists in diverse settings such as community mental health agencies, social service organizations, school-based counseling programs, residential treatment facilities, hospitals, private practices, and community colleges. In addition, our strong alumni network serves as a valuable resource for current students and program graduates.
